Police Sentry

The Star - Friday October 17, 2008

KUALA LUMPUR: A police beat base located in the Chow Kit area of downtown Kuala Lumpur has been shut down because the “presence of criminals could make it unsafe” for police officers.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said the beat base was located in a dirty area where police faced the possibility of being exposed to contagious diseases.

The presence of criminals also posed a threat to the safety of police officers.

More here.

Just as I was mumbling by myself to this unbelievable news, I heard my son singing a song which perfectly describes this situation. I would like to dedicate this song to Mr Hamid Albar.

POLIS SENTRI, ONE TWO JAGA

POLIS MATI, PENCURI JAGA

Repeat 1000 times.

Hi Monster mom, I just cannot believe what you posted. Holy Smoke!
That Home Minister must be if you'll pardon my saying off his rocker.

To me reading this, he obviously can't spell the word 'police' or 'polis'....
I have a lot of friends in Malaysia, and a lot have been mugged or robbed, in broad daylight too....and those crazy motor cyclists I hear my friends telling me, they can't sleep at nights, wakes their babies too, and the police just not doing anything about it.

Gosh, whats happening when A minister takes that above action? Habis cherita for the people.

Disini, if you are being robbed by an armed crook, call the cops and say 'crook is armed with a gun'....and within 3 minutes, maybe less, you'll see police cars arriving, sirens blasting away from all directions, some immediately blocking the roads, some helping to tackle the armed crook...maybe SWAT team also arrive. Can be up to 15 police cars too!

Recently....I posted a cherita of how I followed the wrong car thinking it was my friend's car. Later I apologised to the lady saying I was following my friend's car also white but mistook hers.

I then left to look for my friend. Within minutes 2 burly cops arrived at my house scaring the living daylights out of my wife. She thought da la she jadi widow. Instead that lady had called the cops giving my car number.

Here all vehicles numbers are in every police car computer, in ten seconds they knew who I was, my age, my address, my car....terperanjat my wife.
Told her I had followed a woman, ha ha.

Anyway as I was not in, they returned sharp 8am next morning...nasib baik they accepted my explanation, had a sense of humour. Tada da la masuk that big rumah, ha ha.

And thats what cops are for.
Really regret to read about the Home minister's approach. Sad. Lee.

i pernah tengok polis beat kat chowkit tu..dia macam sebuah caravan la..dalam dia adalah 2,3 orang, tapi boleh memuatkan lebih 10 orang.

ianya terletak lebih kurang belakang Hank You jaya (oldskool shopping complex yg tak wujud lagi rasanya)

sepatutnya diperbesarkan..ditambah anggota lagi..di tingkatkan tahap keselamatn..bukan ditutup.
bila bercerita pasal budget, sebut nak BILLIONS aje..tak main juta2..

budget utk pasukan keselamatn billionssss!!
