Cranky Old Man

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.
Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, They found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.

One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem.

And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet.

Cranky Old Man

What do you see nurses? . . . . .What do you see?

What are you thinking . . . . . when you're looking at me?

A cranky old man, . . . .. .not very wise,

Uncertain of habit .. . . . . . . . with faraway eyes?

Who dribbles his food ... . .. . . . . and makes no reply.

When you say in a loud voice . . . . ... 'I do wish you'd try!'

Who seems not to notice . . . . .the things that you do.

And forever is losing . . . . . . . . . . A sock or shoe?

Who, resisting or not .. . . . . . . . . . . lets you do as you will,

I'm now an old man . . . . .. . . . and nature is cruel.

It's jest to make old age . . . . .. . . look like a fool.

The body, it crumbles .. . . . ... . . . . .. grace and vigour, depart.

There is now a stone .. . . . . .. . where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass . . . .. A young man still dwells,

And now and again . . . .. . . . my battered heart swells

TO WEAR OR NOT TO BUY

A question that has been ringing constantly in my brain since last week - What will I wear?????

Hubby and me will be going for an official dinner next week... which spells BOORRIINNGG all over the place. First of all, it will start with men and women mingling around. Some looking as radiant and over-dressed as usual, some laughing endlessly to some lawak sekupang and some will stand and stare looking blank to the max!

And me? Don't worry about me. Am sure to find few friends whom I haven't met for a few years. Questions, Gossips, Statements!!!!!

And then starts the official ones. The gong... the toast to the VVVVIPPPsss, ladies..bla bla. But the food - I like! Music... hmm.. so so...

Later, the PMC will announce the end of the official part and... hmm..
Here comes bully-the-most-junior-in-the-hall time ( poor him - whoever u may be ), karaoke, pocong pocong and stuff.

And me? Don't worry about me.. I'll try to entertain myself with all the bling bling, lagu sumbang, lost wives, men looking at you-know-what...

I'll be fine. I 'll call hubby once in 5 minutes just to be make sure that he doesn't forget that I'm there too..... hoping that he'll switch his phone on.

But then again, I don't think I have anything nice to wear. Time to go shopping!!! Thank you Uncle LEE!!!!!

DESPERATE HUSBAND

Dear Technical Support,

18 months ago, I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from Drinking Mates 4.2, which I had used for years without any trouble. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off.

To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other applications, such as Lads Night Out 3.1, Football 4.5, and Playboy 6.9.

Successive versions of Girlfriend proved no better.

I tried a shareware program, Slapper 2.1, but it had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks.

Eventually, I tried to run Girlfriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other they caused severe damage to my hardware.

I eventually upgraded to Fiance 1.0, only to discover that this product soon had to be upgraded further to Wife 1.0. While Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSexPlus and Cleanhouse2008.

Shortly after this upgrade, however, I found that Wife 1.0 could be very unstable and costly to run. Any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them.

Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary, Explorer and E-mail filter, and can, without warning, launch TurboStrop and Multi-Whinge. These latter products have no Help files, and I have to try to guess what the problem is.

Additional problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly, requiring ShoeShop Browser for new attachments and Hairstyle Express which needs to be reinstalled every other week. Also, when Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Saab 93 Convertible hard drive, it often crashes.

Wife 1..0 also comes with an irritating pop-up called MotherInLaw, which can't be turned off.

Recently I've been tempted to install Mistress 2008, but there could be problems. A friend of mine has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0 detects Mistress 2008, it tends to delete all of your Money before uninstalling itself.

This is a very common problem that men complain about. Many people upgrade from a Girlfriend application to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program.

Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run everything. It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 1.2. It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed.

You are right that you cannot go back to Girlfriend 1.2 because Wife 1.0 is designed not to allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under 'Warnings-Alimony/Child Support.'

I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application 'Yes Dear' to alleviate software augmentation. The best course of action is to enter the command C: \ APOLOGIZE. Because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Overuse of its support programs will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software.. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0.

WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

The military wife is a special individual. When she was a girl, her dreams were bold, as bold as her fine, free gaze; And every gift of grace and mind was hers in her younger days. When she was a girl, a golden girl, with a soul as fine as fire. She could outshine the brightest jewel that a rich man's love might buy her. Yes hers could have been the glittering path through a careless, carefree life. But she fell in love with an soldier, so she became a military wife.

Away from the home of her childhood she marched at her husband's side. For she chose a wide and winding road when she became a bride. And sometimes the road was a hard one, so different from what she had planned; And sometimes she wept for the home she had left as she lay in a foreign land; And sometimes her steps would grow weary as she followed the drum and the fife; But she set about making the world her home because she was a military wife.

She learned to build a hearth for them wherever her man was sent; And she knelt to plant a garden every time he pitched their tent. Yes, she always planted a garden though she never saw it grow, For she knew before the flowers came that she would have to go. But she left each garden gladly though it cut her like a knife, For she hoped it might bring some comfort to another military wife.

To the hardships in her married life she brought one simple truth, A promise that once was spoken in the ancient words of Ruth: "Wherever you go, I will go. Teaching in RS

It has been 3 weeks since my last class with RS girls. They were eager to start the session as I entered the room. I started the ball rolling with some tongue twisting sentences. They practiced and teased each other as we go through the lesson.

I noticed that one of them had given birth to a girl and another one is still in a hospital with a boy waiting to be discharged in a few days time… The baby that I saw three weeks ago had already been given to her foster parent. I sensed that the mother was a bit quiet this time around. Maybe she's missing her daughter….

Anyway, we ended the lesson with telephone etiquette. As usual they will have to pick a partner and practice with each other.

One of them asked about my life. What I used to do, countries I visited etc. After telling them some stories of the countries I've been to, I reminded them that whatever they do or wherever they go, they must not forget who they are and why they are here on this earth. Knowing English is a bonus and they should try their best. Even if they speak broken English, I'm thankful that they are not afraid to try. What really matters is our mentality and not the language we speak….

I can’t understand why some men like to drive with their hand/arm dangling out the window. Is it so cool to drive that way? You could just see their faces as you drive pass them. How does it feel? Good?

Maybe these people have BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder) syndrome. It’s a rare condition which compels its sufferers to want to amputate, or paralyze, their own healthy limbs. I think that will be the answer to my question.

I tried it once and it only last two seconds. Sorry to say, it is plain silly. Besides, it’s dangerous. My brain starts throwing all sorts of “What if” questions….
But then again it is not a crime to do that. So, what the heck…

I really wish that I could bring along a ruler/cane/rotan so as to whip those hands as I drive past them. That would be cheeky!!!!

I've always wanted to volunteer. Give back to society. Now that I have the time, I've made the first move. Fortunately, I was offered a slot to teach English to a group of troubled teenagers who are placed in a shelter home about 50 minutes away from my house. Distance doesn't matter. Where there is a will, there is a way. I decided to teach them how to speak simple English.

My first class started last week where I was greeted by 14 sweet girls with all kinds of history. I was taken by surprise when I saw a teenager taking care of her beautiful baby girl waiting to be taken away by a foster parent while another three girls told me shyly that they'll give birth in few months time.

I've entered into a new territory. I thought about my daughter. Her future, her dream….

Breaking the ice session was successful as most of them could speak English. Only a few had difficulties in pronouncing words. I asked them to introduce themselves and answer a question – What makes you different from other people. We had fun. One girl introduced herself and told me that what makes her different is she lies to everybody. I was taken aback but quickly recovered by giving them some homework.

The first session was a quick one as I don't want to pressure them. I bid them goodbye and prayed that they'll have the strength to live and be a new person. As I drove back, I kept thinking of them, their parents, their stories and the sadness in their eyes as they saw me leave. I heard one of them yelling for me to come back the next week….

I've never met her and so I don't know her personally. I knew her for her husband's blog. Since November I followed the blog to know about her struggles to an illness unknown to doctors. It is known as Santau.

She was a loving mother and wife. She was always there to volunteer in all religious activities that was done. She was the jewel of her family. She was loved by all her friends.

To her husband and children, please be strong. This is the challenge that Allah had given to you to test your Iman. The test is only given to special people.

Last two weeks after coming back from Kuantan the kids had the opportunity to join a camp organized by JIM Penang. It was an eye opener for them joining kids from different backgrounds of education mainly those from Islamic school. The did enjoyed themselves and I on the other hand tried my best to help around with the activities but had to keep it at the minimum since I had a fever, flu and cough...

After the camp, we headed to our next destination, Melaka. As usual, the kids were busy with the pool activities. Monstermom joined them and too bad I forgot to apply the sunscreen lotion. What a nice tan I had....
Immidiately after Melaka, we rushed back to Kedah, to celebrate Eidul Adha. Last night, we are back in Penang.
Now I have to confine myself in the house hoping that tan will subside in a few weeks...
Piles of dirty laundry to catch up and not forgetting the dust all over the house.

Last Friday, my parents brought me and the kids to a kopitiam situated in a place which used to be my school, St Nicholas Convent, Alor Setar. As soon as we entered the school gate, I was transformed into my own world. I saw girls running around and giggling to each other when all of a sudden, Miss Mak, our headmistress appeared out of nowhere. When the school bell rang, we would then head to our classrooms and enjoy being an SNC girl....

I was awaken from my dream when my son started pulling my blouse. Grrrr...

That place was a hit! It was packed and you can order from nasi goreng to chicken chop. I was still skeptic of the place but after tasting my dad's meal, I didn't even talk but concentrated on tasting what had been ordered for others. My favourite was KCK. Apparently, when they started the place a gentleman ordered a dish which was not on their menu and he taught them how to prepare it. He was chief of the special branch (Ketua Cawangan Khas).

Cuts like a knife

Yesterday afternoon, while waiting for Iman and Nana at school, I noticed a group of kids playing happily. It brought back sweet memories of yesteryears. They were teasing, running and poking each other like any normal boys will do.

I looked harder and to my horror they were actually playing with a knife. Almost all of them, had a knife. I told them nicely that it was not a good idea to play around with that kind of thing. They replied that it was just a toy knife and demonstrated to me how it worked.

Looks just like a kitchen knife, isn't it? Only it was plastic.

Then, if you stab it to your friend, the blade will dissapear into the handle.

For them, it's all about magic and fun. For me, it is danger. They bought it from a toy shop nearby. How could this happen? By letting them play around with this, we are telling them that it is okay... It is not okay. I'm just so worried.

Earlier today, I went to KPDNHEP to file a complaint but to no avail. They told me that anybody could be selling those and it is not under their jurisdiction to act.... I was told to go to a police station or CAP. Well, I don't think the police will be interested in this...

Then, I searched for the shop and found out that it is sold for RM0.80 only.

How about that!

I got a message from Wan. She wanted to meet me. Back in 1984 we were classmates of Standard 5 Kekwa. I called her today and that was the first time we spoke to each other in 14 years. It was awkward.

She came to my house and we met. We clicked instantly. I can still remember how she smiled seeing my collection of our school days photos. We talked like there's no tomorrow.

Since her arrival, life has been busier. As I walk down the stairs every morning, I can already hear her scream to be let into the house and hence, her breakie. Iman is given the responsibility of taking care of her especially in the event of poo-clearing, bathing as well as vacuuming the carpet. Atief no longer cries for me whenever he wakes up in the morning but will run down the stairs to greet CheeChuq with his usual Assalamualaikum. Nana on the other hand will try to help around especially in playing-with-Cheechuq matter. When hubby returns from work, he'll search for CheeChuq and sometimes forgetting that Atief has been hiding behind the door waiting to be found for almost 5 mins!

Welcome CheeChuq. It's only been 2 weeks but your presence surely made a big change in our daily life.

KUALA LUMPUR: A police beat base located in the Chow Kit area of downtown Kuala Lumpur has been shut down because the “presence of criminals could make it unsafe” for police officers.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said the beat base was located in a dirty area where police faced the possibility of being exposed to contagious diseases.

The presence of criminals also posed a threat to the safety of police officers.

The other day I was just browsing the sports channel to see whether they have anything interesting. Ch 811 - Baseball. Ch 812 - American Football. Ch 813 - Golf. Great! I've never been to America and I'm more keen towards European sports especially football. In order to appreciate the first two sports, you really have to stay in USA while you have to play golf to love it.

I'm not anti American-based sports but relatively speaking, Yes. I love their movies and TV series though...
For the time being, I don't really like golf until maybe one day if hubby decides to grant me the opportunity to start my first lesson.... Pleaseeee!!!

Nevertheless, he is truly a hero who was lost in time. The history of him should be made public and all politician should take this man's principal as an example...

He was the one who brought Malaysia to the world but sadly this unsung hero was only recognized as TTDI to an average Malaysian.
If he was made PM, I wonder what will happen to Mahathir....

Another issue that was highlighted is how powerful individuals from different races be it Malay, Chinese and Indian contributed their time and energy in achieving Independence. This act is the main point to be remembered in celebrating our National Day. We are all Malaysian. We deserve to be here. Until our last breath...

Our Ustaz jokingly told us that men will usually ask God to grant them to marry another, here.

Without hesitation, hubby and his friends climbed the hill and made their wishes there. I don't know what he wished for and I didn't ask.

Of Rambutan and Mosquitoe

We went back to Sepang for this...

After that we decided to practice our skill which had been put on hold for quite some time...

And we succeeded succesfully

The next day we took Ayah and Mak to Pulau Ketam.

This is the first time they set their foot on the island again after 54 years. Shortly after they were married, Ayah was transfered to Pulau Ketam and they stayed there for almost a year.... You can see the excitement in their eyes..... to be able to revisit old memories... priceless...

Being an excelent storyteller, Ayah told us his experience as a policeman in the small island where everybody knows everybody....

While Ayah and Mak relaxed in the community hall, we had our own adventure.

It was a nice outing. All of us had fun. Time to go back to rambutan.....

How about it. Spanish people are on a happy track. They won Euro 08 and then Nadal hammered RF in Wimbledon. I'm not Spanish. I'm a Malaysian.

Sports wise, I'm happy. Nicol is squash World No 1, our badminton players are training hard, our national men's recurve archers is ranked fourth in the world, Qabil Ambak is riding with a smile ahead his world cup hope and our bowling team did well in Hong Kong.

Political wise, not happy.

Why men don't listen and Women cant read maps

I read this book a week ago and found most of it miserably (for me) true....

It implies around the main task of men and women millions of years ago which indirectly makes us what we are now. Man - hunt. Woman - nurture.

The first chapter is just as hilarious and true as the last chapter. It gets a little bit boring in the middle but come the last chapter which discusses about Sex, the favorite topic, you'll be eager to read more...

The first page highlights some things that are obvious which are :-

When a man goes to a rest-room, he usually goes for one reason and one reason only. Women use rest-rooms as social lounges and therapy rooms. Women who go to a rest-rooms as strangers can come out best friends and lifelong buddies. Everyone would be instantly suspicious of the man, however, who calls out, "Hey Frank, I'm going to the toilet - wanna come with me?"

Men dominate TV remote controls and flick through the channels; women don't mind watching the commercials.

Under pressure, men drink alcohol/smoke and invade other countries; women eat chocolate and go shopping.

Women criticize men for being insensitive, uncaring , not listening, not being warm and compassionate, not talking, not giving enough love, not being committed to relationships, wanting to have sex rather than making love, and leaving the toilet seat up.

Men criticize women about their driving (ops!!!) , for not being able to read street directories, for turning maps upside down, for their lack of a sense of direction, for talking too much without getting to the point, for not initiating sex often enough and for leaving the toilet seat down.

Men are amazed how a woman can't see a red flashing oil light on the car dashboard but can spot a dirty sock in a dark corner 50 meters away. Women are bewildered by men who can consistently parallel park a car in a tight spot using a rear-vision mirror, but can never find the G-spot.

If woman is out driving and gets lost, she'll stop and ask for directions. To a man, this is a sign of weakness. He'll drive round in circles for hours, muttering things like, "I've found a new way to get there" or "I'm in the general area" and "Hey, I recognize that petrol station!"

The Accident

Yesterday was challenging. After preparing the meal, I went to pick my son up from his Kindergarten and came back. After 1.5 hrs, I went out to pick my daughter up from school and came back to the house again. Soon after they had their lunch and a bit of rest for more than an hour, we had to go out again to pick my eldest son up from school for he had to stay back for his co-curriculum activity.

Then it happened. A JKR lorry was parked by the road side which blocked my view when I wanted to cross over from the school area. I saw a motorcycle coming and after it passed I slowly drove and BAMMM!!! Another motorcycle hit my "lorry". I didn't see it coming.... Luckily the motorcycle was not that fast... I was so shaken but luckily all of us were buckled up....

I quickly got off the car and apologized to the rider and offered to pay for the damages that he had to suffer... To cut it short, we went to the nearby mechanic and fortunately it only costs me RM28. The real damage would be our lorry which had quite a bent at its front bumper.... I'm not sure how much it will cost!

All this happened when hubby is not around. He's in KL... will be back tomorrow....

I needed to divert my attention from the incident and so I :-

Managed to finish another novel.

Watched Soleha on Ch 119 Astro

Witnessed how Ivanovic was tested to her limits and the exit of Pak Djoko from Wimbledon.

Lastly, cursing by myself as Turkey went down to Germany at the last minute.

What goes around comes around... The statistics of Turkey were amazing but in the end, the team that managed to put the ball into the net wins no matter how pretty the stats are....
No doubt the team of the tournament will be Turkey.
I'm counting on Spain to meet the Germans this time....

Dragon Fruit Orchard in Jitra, Kedah

Last week we visited my father's friend in Jitra, Kedah. He has this awesome orchard which consists of dragon fruit, durian, manggis etc but our eyes were on the dragon fruit. It tasted nice and different. Moreover it is organic, safe and healthy....

I'm still in a confused state. After recovering, I'm slapped with the price hike .... everywhere....
The other day, I bought a whole chicken for RM12 !!!!

Fuel cost escalated... Hubby complained that his bike now needs approx RM19 for a full tank! LOL!!!!
We wanted to convert our "lorry" to NGV but there's only one station in Prai.... how come????? How then???

I didn't watch last night's game but heard hubby laughed and cheered. I don't know why I'm now so sleepy... I'm gonna try to stay awake tonight....

Hubby promised to take me for a round of Nasi Kandaq tonight while the kids are at their Qiraati class. They'll have to settle for pasta for today though....

I'm now blogging from AwanaKijal. The kids and I are following hubby on his working trip and now here we are! I'm taking a break again.. but only from cooking and house-cleaning... I still have to take care of the kids...mind you!

Our activity in the morning was swimming around the pool area until the kids were tired and cold and hungry. Hahaha!!!

After lunch, Atief got his quick nap and now I'm surfing and blogging while waiting for the kids to finish up their PS2 game. Next we are going to the beach..

Need to get some fresh air... they are quarelling again!!!!

Sedim Retreat

A retreat to Sedim Eco Theme Park in Kulim will make you appreciate our mother nature. And so for 3 days 2 nights, we had no-tv fun filled activities. A trip to remember...

The chalets are a bit pricey though...

We enjoyed having fun in the water for 3 full days.

This is the longest tree top walk in the world. It crosses Sedim River and the view was breathtaking.

We found this while we were having lunch at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere.....

OMG!!!! The Augusta Masters is on.... I'd better watch my Astro now before hubby gets back and switch to his Golf Channel.... I thought of locking the channel but ...hihihi..

What is so good about golf anyway? Is it a sport? Anyone who has a stick can play golf...even if you are 9 months pregnant! Gosh... Anyway, let me tell you about this new happening club.

In Europe, it is Wives and Girlfriends (WAG) for football players. Posh Spice is still one of them where all they do is shopping, shopping and more shopping.I would like to start a new club which coincidently is WAG as well but rather different in its meaning. It is Wives Against Golf club. I’m not totally against golf but I just think that it is a silly, tiring, boring, time consuming and cost-money game. Why in the world would you hit a small ball and then go searching for it just to hit it over and over again till it gets into a small hole? Winston Churchill once described golf as “…a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.” I can’t agree with you more, Churchill!

If you want to be in the WAG club, rules are:-

1. Your husband must play golf.
2. You don’t play golf.

It is as simple as that.

What I know best about golf is Tiger Woods. He is a legend. His 2007 PGA Tour money list is $4,274,091. He earned almost $12 million in prize money in 2005 and another $75 million off the course to increase his career income to more than a half-billion dollars. In little more than nine seasons as a professional, Woods has earned $66 million in prize money worldwide, some of it as unofficial earnings. Assuming Woods continues on the same earnings trajectory, Golf Digest projects that Woods will reach the $1 billion mark in career earnings by the end of 2010.

The money is so tempting and so I decided to continue my son’s golf lessons. Who knows in 10 years time he wants (or forced by me) to turn pro and starts earning more than I or hubby could have in our entire life? I’m not asking him to be Tiger Woods but KJ Choi perhaps? I tried to persuade hubby to let me try the game but sadly it fell on deaf ears. I know I could be an average golfer considering my all-rounder talent….Ehm…

Nevertheless, to all women out there, you are welcome to join me at my self-made WAG club. What we do is just bitching around.... But then again, Iman dearest, just show me the money!! (imagine Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire).

Two bad news:

1. Malaysian double badminton team lost to China in India recently. They were so determined in the first half but lost everything in the second and rubber sets. They still lack the confidence and I’m still skeptic with their attitude….

2. Nadal lost again. Damnnnn…

Two good news:

1. Ferrari wins in Bahrain which ended Massa’s misfortunes in the first two races. Although Kimi got second, he still maintained his super-cool face which to me is expressionless…

2. Man U won and and they’ll be waiting anxiously for Roma to come for the 2^nd leg in Manchester…hahaha..

It all started when my father brought me to Darulaman Stadium to watch Hijau Kuning play. I will always ask him to get me the VIP ticket so that I could watch the players walkout from the dressing room and browse some of the cute guys. I even dated one of them but it only lasted one date for he respected my father too much to carry on with the puppy love. Ahaks!!
Mind you this was ages ago…

Now, I’m sorry to say that Malaysian football is a disgrace to watch. It’s all about politics and the passion is somehow or rather gone with the wind. I’d rather stick to EPL and FA Cup. No hanky panky.. just purely football!

I really hope MU will go on to win the Champions League. This legacy of supporting MU has and is still passed on for generations from my Papa to my uncles and now me. I’m trying to coax my son to accept the burden of being another MU supporter but to no avail. Hubby proved to be a strong challenger since he is an ABU (anything but united) fan. I won’t give up till the fat lady sings though… I’m hoping for MU to win to strenghten the case but kids nowadays have their own set of preference....

Life’s been quite hard these past few months but I tried my very best to charge my brain with few tennis and football matches. I was glued in front of the tv last month for the Australian Open and am glad that I did even though it was at the expense of my kids. They complained to hubby that they were not allowed to play outside. No way! Not without my supervision.

Iman : How about today Ibu! Can we go cycling?

Ibu : Sorry, Nadal is playing and Justine will be up next. For your information, we won’t go anywhere for the rest of this week and next week since Australia Open is going to the 3rd round and all my favourite players are still in the game.

Iman : If that’s the case, can Nana and me play badminton in front of the house? Keep the door open so you could see us while we play… please..please

Ibu : I can’t do that! Look what hapenned to Sharlini.. do you want to be kidnapped like her?

Iman : No..

Ibu : In that case, you’ll have to play inside this house. There are lots of things that I bought to keep you, Nana and Atief entertained for the rest of the week…or even your entire life. ( I was holding myself not to smile…it was so hard!)

While walking down the street one day a Malaysian politician is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and he is met by an angel at the entrance.

"Welcome to heaven," says the angel. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the man. "Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."

"Really, I have made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the Yang Berhormat. "I'm sorry, but we have our rules," says the angel. And with that, the angel escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and dressed in the finest batik there is. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense
of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then indulge themselves on lobsters, caviar and the most expensive food there is. Present together is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes.

They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises. The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where the angel is waiting for him. "Now it' s time to visit heaven."

So, 24 hours pass with the Yang Berhormat joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and the angel returns. "Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."

The Yang Berhormat reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I am better off in hell."

So the angel escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above. The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder.

"I don't understand," stammers the Yang Berhormat. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning, just like you did during an election...... Today you voted."

I should be happy. I must be feeling happy. I know that I’m happy but am I really happy? Honestly? I don’t know.

For the past 3 months it had been such a roller coaster ride. Things that I never thought I’d feel, I felt. In three months, I was from being happy, thrilled, excited, afraid, appalled, out-of-breath, sad, sentimental, happy again, relaxed, gay, panicked, cautious, angry, tensed, excited, surprised, can’t-sleep-for-a-whole-night to confused and still am…..

Most of the time, I used to think that doing the house chores is my responsibility and I’ll do it no matter how I felt. Sometimes it was such a burden. At times it was just another chore. Whatever happens, I’ll have to do it….

While I was ironing last night, I kept thinking about the fuss of lover’s day that was celebrated on the Feb 14^th. It was all over the radio and tv. It brought me to think of the love that I have inside me….

For the first time in months, I ironed the clothes with LOVE. Every wrinkle was ironed with LOVE. I praised God for all the love that I have to my family. I thanked God that I still have the love inside me now and it made me realised that I don’t need a special day to celebrate love. I can do it any time I want…..

Now I feel love…….

Dear RARA

How's life going over there. Our life is still on the run all the time. Moving places...all over again!

When we got back from OZland in mid Dec last year, we were only "directed" to go to Butterworth just 3 days before school season starts! Imagine the hassle!!!! So we got this house, quite small with only 3 rooms n 1 bathroom, to serve as a transit house until I could find another suitable house. Last two week, I found quite a comfortable house and we decided to move out and as usual I was assigned by the royal highness "Hubby" to clean n prepare the house..hmm..

Luckily I found an agency which provides maid on an hourly basis...RM5 per hour!!!! They still have those kind of services with that kind of price!!!! I immediately book them to clean the new house....hehehe... n paid RM40 for 4 hours of their sweat! Puh...lega nya I... And when Hubby came back, I was happily telling him about our new house..and wants him to arrange for the transportation. He just kept quite and told me to sit down for another news....

Now Hubby has to move to KL!!!!!! Imagine the frustration on my face. Our things just arrived from OZ n I've arranged the new house n the kids had just settled in their new school... Gosh! I felt like screaming..or kicking somebody on the BUTT!

And so, now, we can't move till he's sure about the transfer...whether we can stay here or follow him... I don't know...
Now we are stuck in this "box house". Everything is still not sure... have to wait for the meeting... which god knows when...

Luckily my parents are nearby. Almost every weekend, we'll go back to Alor Setar...

Till then, miss u!

Chapman School organised their fete three weeks ago and my friends and I decided to join in and sell Asian food to raise funds for the school. We prepared fried rice, fried noodle, tomyum, fried chicken and es teler (indonesian drink). The stall was so popular that everything were sold out by the first hour!

I know that now, I can always look back at the times that I spent while I was there with smiling heart....

Farewell Lunch at Chapman School

My kids' school organised a farewell lunch on Nov, 15th for all the parents who are going away next year . Most of us came and fortunately our husbands were given the permission to attend it too..
The kids are all excited about it and each of us cooked our own traditional food. The kids had learned so much from this school. I can't describe how fortunate we are to have all the dedicated and passionate teachers guiding and loving the kids....
Too bad we have to go but my kids are already missing their friends and teachers...

BOXING MONTH

I know..I know... It has been a month since my last entry. Life is so busy nowadays since we have to move out from the house in 5 days time!!! Imagine the packing and cleaning and all sorts of administration to settle.

We've just came back from our Melbourne vacation...huhuhu... and now back to serious business.

Today, we have safely sent our things to Malaysia via the shipping agency, visited Atief's pre-school for the last time and managed to throw a whole lot of rubbish at the dump site plus changed the car tyres....Phew!!!!

Tonite, I'm cooking for hubby's friend and tomorrow I'll be going to hubby's graduation ball.
Then, we have to start clearing the house.....

I'm not sure if I'll have the time to do another entry. Lots of pics to post but maybe you'll have to wait....

Can't wait to go back.

Eid Celebration in Canberra - Part 2

I thought that we won't be celebrating Eid that much here but boy was I wrong! There were lots of invitation during each weekend since Eid and until now we are still receiving invitations. Last two weeks we (my other two Malaysian neighbours and my family) hosted our “Eid Open House” to our friends and it was brilliant. My kid’s teachers came and they truly enjoyed themselves but I forgot to take the photos since the camera was with hubby. He was too busy talking to his buddies but managed to capture some memorable shots of his beautiful wife….. (at the last minute)

It was fun explaining which dish goes with which... huhuhu...and sometimes I got mixed up but they still ate it!!! Hihihi...

The night before Eid, I tried my best to cook Rendang, Kuah Lodeh and Nasi himpit for my family. It seemed odd though because the decision was made at the last minute (by hubby of course!) and we managed to find the raw material at our usual asian grocery shop. Nevertheless, I enjoyed cooking and splatting the dishes all over my kitchen.... It's oil and coconut paste and veges all over.... hahaha...

Dear friends... It's been a month since I blogged...hehehehe.. For the past one month, I've taken up a new challenge and that was working full time. The job was so demanding physically that I've lost weight. Furthermore, it was during Ramadan month that I was offered this job. Nonetheless, I had to quit for the kids missed me too much not forgetting hubby. My shift starts from 3pm till 11pm. It was tough but I got good pay as well... at least now I can go on my shopping spree....

I missed staying at home. I missed blogging. And now that I got it back, I kind of appreciating and utilising it to the max. I could sleep more, relax more, blog more.....

Will blog again from now on....

Few weeks ago my friends and I volunteered to cook for the school canteen to raise some money for their Second Language program which happens to be Indonesian Language. We had a good time cooking, packing and selling fried rice and spring rolls. In the end we managed to raise about AUD500. It's nice to know that you are contributing, even on a smaller scale. So to all my dear friends, thank you for making it happen.

Monster Mom is so busy that she's too tired to update. She has to accompany Atief which is attending his pre-school until 12.00 and then drive back home to prepare some meals and wait for Iman and Nana to return from their school. The house will be like a "war zone" when all the kids gather together against their Monster Mom. By 6pm, they want their dinner served and will be in their bed at 9pm. Monster Mom too will be in her doona, thinking about what to cook for the next day as well as planning some strategies on how to trick her chipmunks to follow her orders. Really need to read hubby's Sun Tzu's Art Of War book that's been lying around...hopefully that won't backfire.... The kids seems to know the tricks..... argghhh!!!!
This is life... until December. Can't wait to go back....

The kids were looking forward for their first encounter with snow. Since all of us had recovered from our so called "Gold Coast issues" we decided to go to Perisher Valley for some "white cum freezing cum windy" experience.

Being Atief, he wanted to go home just after 15 minutes of playing with the snow. Imagine how Iman and Nana felt about that!!!!

During the last school holiday, we managed to go to the Gold Coast . The kids were so excited about it though they spent some 14 hrs of journey in the car! These are a few snaps of our trip.

On our last night, we had a nice dinner at Bali Hut - a restaurant in Twin Towns.

The trip was full of challenges. Iman, Ibu and Atief got sick. Ayah and Nana took care of us... And so Ayah had to drive all the way back just by himself this time... sorry hubby!!! Whatever it is, we had fun. The kids enjoyed it. That's all that matters. More pics at hubby's blog.

Atief's 2 week adventure

Our Thursday playgroup went for a bus wash trip in Tuggeranong. The kids were so anxious to go onto the bus and Atief as usual kept to himself for the first 15 minutes. After that he joined the group with Spotto game and waking up the sleeping busses. The whole journey was about an hour. The mothers turned out to be more excited.....

For the last day of the term, Atief's playschool had a bear picnic. They ate their lunches, played bubbles and got some bear biscuits from Julie (the teacher). Bye! Bye! Atief will be joining pre-school next term. Hopefully this time, he won't cry that much and Ibu can leave him instead of waiting inside the class..... I wish....

It's playtime again

Last weekend hubby was still busy with his papers and so the kids and I decided to leave him at the college and go to this place called Kid Zone. Yeap! It's play time again... for them...

Luckily I had the chance to enjoy my latte .

I was even able to continue with my knitting project which eventually was halfly done.

Overall we had fun and as usual Atief slept all the way home.

There is another place called Kid City which is 10 times bigger than KidZone.... Iman especially will be thrilled when he knows about this.... shhhhh.. Maybe next week.. or next next week...

Golf Mania

It used to be hubby's passion. Now, it's my sons'. Luckily he didn't grab my daughter along with it. Well, at least I can bring Nana to my shopping spree while the boys go golfing. Every now and then they (the boys) will practice their swing at the nearby field. I’m counting on Iman to be a pro someday…. Atief needs more coaching judging from his posture….

Haversack vs DigiCam

I’m not a planner. Not in my personal life. It just happens. Subconsciously I do have a checklist of what to bring especially before going out and that is my haversack. Everything’s in there. In fact it has been 4 full months since I grab my handbag. I can’t even remember how many pockets it has or does it has one?

I’ve added another item to my haversack and that is my digital camera. Actually it’s not my digi-cam, its hubby’s. Hehe…

Anyway since I started blogging, everything has to be captured in photos. At the end of the day, hubby and I will usually argue about who will get which photo to be in their blog. Usually he’ll get what he wants because he’ll be the one transferring all the photos into the computer hence selecting the ones that he liked best while I’m asleep. When he goes away for his visits he’ll take the camera along and in a way, I felt incomplete. I’m stuck with no camera and I think you bloggers know what it’s like when you’re in a situation where you really want to snap a picture but the camera is nowhere to be seen. It happened to me this morning when I frantically searched my haversack and finally realised (after emptying it) that hubby got it.

I’m not buying another camera but hmm… let me think. What do you reckon honey?

Book Addict

Few weeks ago I went to the library at hubby’s college and realised how I missed browsing and walking around books. I really enjoyed the smell of it, the beauty of it being in order and the ambiance of the library itself. The last time I was in such a place was ages ago. I came across books which I used to carry around university and books that I hated most. It brings back wonderful memories of being a student with only one thing in mind, to graduate.

Hello! Earth to Monstermom!

Back to book business. Second hand books are cheap in Australia. I usually shop for it at the garage sales or Sunday Markets. Books will be the first thing on my checklist. As for now, I’m proud to announce that I’ve almost completed collecting Patricia Cornwell’s novels which cost me not more than $5 each. I even got some of the hardcover books at $1. Next will be Tom Clancy, Jodi Picoult and Anita Shreve.

Most of the ladies that I know would go crazy over Royal Doulton, Corningware, crystals and stuff. I’m just the opposite of it. It doesn’t matter as long as I’m happy…

Hibernating Still....

I've been hibernating from blogging world for the past three weeks. My parents and in-laws came to visit us and stayed till last Friday. Considering the time constraint, I tried my best to entertain them so as to make it a memorable one. The grandkids were so delighted to have them and I , for one, had quite a break from my usual duties. Every night the house was filled with laughter when we chat about what we've done earlier in the day.

It was a drama when we sent them off at the station. They seemed to have difficulties in letting the kids go. Atief continuosly clung to Papa and this broke him to pieces. Mak and Ayah just boarded the bus quickly and continued weeping silently in their seats. Too bad we couldn't send them straight to Sydney as hubby was to go to Indonesia the next day. Right after we came back to the house, we still could smell Ayah's minyak atar and Papa's perfume in their respective rooms. The house felt empty.

I'm missing them more and more while hubby gets to divert his sadness watching lovely girls in Jakarta, Bali, Bandung... Arghh!!!!! I'm left alone, again, back to my usual monstermom self......

A woman once said that Canberra is boring and prefers Sydney. I hope she takes it back. For me living here could never been any better. I’m so tied up with all sorts of activities mostly outing and window shopping…. Lol!.

There are a lot of places to go and visit. The most important thing is creativity. I hardly have enough time for cooking let alone blogging. Time goes so fast to cover all the things that I wanna do. So many things to explore…

As for now I’m all up to my sleeves with the kids. My mornings will be busy with preparing breakfast, sending kids to school, attending Atief’s playgroup, morning coffee, groceries shopping etc. Afternoon will be house works, preparing dinner and blogging. I hardly get an hour of quality blogging especially if my little one refuses to have his afternoon nap. Though school ends at 3pm I wish it could last longer…heheh… Evening is kids’ Quran lesson, playtime (which unfortunately must be supervised by monstermom) and by dinner time I’m already looking forward to sleep…

In all those craziness, I still managed to find some time to go window shopping (a lot!!!!), sight seeing, eat ( a lot too!!) and even do some reading! No wonder I’ve lost 2 kilos already!!!
